ISO Youth Orchestra

Over the past four years, just under a hundred young musicians from Iceland’s music schools have gathered together to form the Iceland Symphony Youth Orchestra, delivering splendid results under the leadership of the orchestra’s gifted instrumentalists and conductors. Last year the ISYO performed Debussy‘s La mer, and Elgar´s Cello Concerto with cellist Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir. The orchestra‘s conductors have included Petri Sakari and Rumon Gamba, former chief conductors of the ISO as well as Baldur Brönniman. Ilan Volkov, chief conductor of ISO, will conduct the orchestra for the first time in the upcoming Tectonics Festival.
