Verlat (WP) for an 8-channel immersive sound environment
I Am Sitting On A Long Thin Wire for voice and electronics (WP)
Verlat is a 22 minute electroacoustic piece reflecting on different relationships of whole to part. It is composed for groups of sound processes where interactions between those form the main occupation of the piece. These processes appear in temporal states where the focus passes from one configuration to another. Each state exposes a variety of qualities where different situations are encountered that appear without sharp boundaries. The relation between these states, their transitions and the time of occupying an instant, bring forth an arrangement centred on change. Even very static situations create perceptual illusions of development, producing prolonged and continuous experience. It could be how things change that creates the feeling of time. Perhaps all development is a matter of process, of activity, of change. We have difficulties apprehending what we are but little difficulty experiencing what we do. This behaviour based view is an important element of the piece. Verlat is composed in 2014 for an 8-channel immersive sound environment.
Ghostigital: Using Alvin Lucier's works as an incentive Ghostigital will produce a unique soundworld for voice and electronics.
